Manufacturing remains a challenge: Finance Minister

New Delhi,29th December,2014:The Centre's meeting with several stakeholders in New Delhi is going on to chalk out a specific action plan to implement the 'Make in India' programme. Government will undertake more steps to facilitate ease of doing business as part of the 'Make in India' initiative. 18 sessions are being held as part of the one-day workshop in which 25 Ministries under the Government of India and all the States have come together to converge and integrate in a professional manner to chart a roadmap for short and medium term to make 'Make in India' initiative a grand success. Inaugurating the one-day National Workshop on Sectoral Perspectives & initiatives which is Creating an enabling framework for stimulating investments for Make in India, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that number of steps have been taken in the past seven months to facilitate an investor friendly climate in the country. However, manufacturing still remains a challenge. Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said termed the National Workshop as an unique initiative of the Government to enhance the manufacturing sector to revive growth. Commerce Minister further said that the Ministry has taken several steps to boost manufacturing. Besides leading business chambers being involved in the deliberations. The sectoral deliberations include chemicals, oil and gas, petrochemicals, capital goods, pharmaceutical, food processing, tourism, aviation, automobile, aerospace, defence production and skill development. Sector specific issues and recommendations for the next budget and inter-ministerial differences are also likely to be discussed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet state Chief Secretaries in the evening and discuss ways to fine-tune Make in India Campaign.
